I was in a Maplin store yesterday. As you probably know, they are closing down. They had stacks of universal laptop power supplies at 30% off.
I don’t know if they have a similar deal online?

The maplin universal supplies can be a bit hit and miss. The one I bought worked fine on my old Lenovo (rectangular plug style) but refused to work with my new HP (round blue tip style) despite having the correct plug sold with it. Personally I'd always go for a "proper" adaptor given the choice (i.e. a permanently wired one). I only bought an universal one because I'd driven from home to Cardiff and left my charger behind. The only reason I've kept it is because I get so many folks who dump a laptop with me for repairs only to forget to leave the power supply as well..

I thought you was a mechanic? What size spanners/hammer do you use for fixing 'puters..... Nobster, like Rhyds says, go for an oem powe supply, might cost a few bob more but more likely to be suitable for its intended purpose...

Cars are my hobby, IT pays the bills That said, there are a lot of similarities. For every garage story about no keys or no locking wheel nut key I get the same with no power supplies and no passwords. I hate to admit it but every now and again I've had to resort to breaking in to the PC to get the job done!

I was listening to the match last night (Liverpool V Roma)and got a bit excited and damaged the laptop lead.

I'll have a nose at mission control and see if I've still got a spare Thank you. That PSA link one works out at £33.71 when they add the VAT and postage. The Amazon link is cheaper at £23.98 delivered. I'll hold off until I hear from you either way.
