year 2003 2.8CRD, anyone done a timing belt on one of these?
Book time is an optimistic 2 and a half hours.
I see it needs tools to lock the cams, anyway around this?

I havn't done one as such but a friend did attempt his and he didnt have the cam pins or crank pin ,he just tippexed it and locked the cam pulleys together, when he had finished it wouldnt start , i didnt have time to look at it but seem to remember he had the pump in the wrong position.

Aha yes, looking at the data it has a mark at 9 o'clock on the pump pulley, bit odd with it being a common rail, but there again it is a yank ;D I shall go and stick my head under the bonnet in the next day or so and see what I'm up against. I found a video showing where the pins go in the cams, I should be able to improvise..Methinks they will need locking to set the tension between the cam pulleys. Oh what a fun one to do out in the cold, but I need the work

ive done a timing belt on a 2.8 voyager before, dont remember any problems or special tools needed. some common rails use the pump pulley for cam position sensor thats why they are timed up. if you fancy a 60 mile drive to do it in my warm garage then the offer still stands!!
