Hi ! Had been on the 'other' forum for a few years and while I could only offer help on the odd occasion I got lots of help from the forum . Spent a while wondering why it had gone so quiet before I found this one . I live in Ireland and am often jealous of the prices I see mentioned especially from the main dlrs . I am not in the trade as such but have been working on and trying to fix cars for many many years - would desribe myself as a serious DIYer . Treated myself to a 4 post lift from the USA a few years ago - and what a difference that makes . No more lying on cold concrete , dirt falling into your eyes , having to crawl in and out repeatedly for the tools you want etc . I do a lot of mechanical work - but so far have done little in the diagnostics area. So far can't really justify spending money on a scanner but being without any is becoming more of a problem as I deal with a wide range of vehicles . The advice given here usually says get it scanned first - which would be the obvious choice if I had one . Another problem would be choosing a scanner - can good ones be got second hand ? Thanks for all the help so far - and looking forward to the future .

if you can get hold of a snap mt2500 with all keys and leads, its an excellent bit of kit. it does enough on most makes and models. the solus is just a newer version of it. oh,and us lot in the trade still have to lie down concrete floors, abeit on a creeper when the lifts get blocked with dead cars.
