There's been a car parked in the street for 10 days without moving.
Last taxed in April this year
MOT ran out a month ago
Its a guy who lives on the main road and he's hidden it in our cul de sac.

Cant see how putting a note on his windscreen will make a difference......
He runs the risk of having his car impounded if not scrapped if the DVLA get involved....no sorn ot whatever it is these days.....

If it's not in the way of anything I would leave it be, if the street cul-de-sac is tight for parking space or the owner is a ar*e I might be tempted to report it. Is it on the insurance database?

I've not checked insurance. Its stopping me from getting rid of a car shell, the lorry needs room to reverse onto my drive, parking is an issue here too. The guy has lived here for 5-6 years, there's room for it outside his front door (but only just and sideways on to the road) to park it off street if he wanted but doesn't want to inconvenience himself. There's a hole in the outer sill adjacent to the seatbelt mounting point, which would be a fail?

Yeah the hole sounds like it would be a fail. It its causing a problem to you either ask him to move it or report it.

You can report it on the DVLA website only takes a moment. They soon come round with the flatbed after that

Ask him to move it.
If he is funny about it or is rude.
Report it to the local council.
They have liability to remove abandoned cars, even if they are parked on private land (they don't like the private land issue, but the wording is open space).
Common decency would dictate you ask him first.

Common decency would dictate you ask him first.Agree. Especially if he is young, hard-up, or struggling with other "life-issues". I have been in that situation years ago, where I ended-up trying to park a spare classic car almost anywhere I could, whilst I tried to sort-out a transmission problem on it that prevented it from going anywhere, let alone an MoT station. It all got sorted in the end, but it took some time....

It all got sorted in the end, but it took some time.... He's older than me (I'm 50), its an MX5 two seater and I've only ever seen him drive it alone (I've never seen a female in the passenger seat, but what appeared to be his son lived with him when he first moved in and he drove a 6N polo for a while). Its the second one I've seen him with, the first was solid blue and quite nice, this metallic blue one replaced it a couple of years ago and is not so nice. He does have room outside the house, but its not really practical if it were in daily use, but its not ATM (the dropped kerb is actually between two houses and covers what was the two standard front gates rather than double gates). I'm not really a people person, if you try to describe one of my neighbours I wouldn't know them from adam, but tell me what car they drive and I'd know exactly who you speak of. Common decency dictates that when / if my dogs shit on the pavement outside his house I pick it up (not wait for him to tell me), but thanks for the replies anyway.

Knock on his door and explain you want to remove something from your premises via a wagon and his car is preventing this from happening so could you remove it thank you. If he gets arsey tell him straight I would.

I Am non of the above things so not entitled to use it That's the one. Is there room to manoeuvre it enough for the wagon to back in? Give me his address I'll pop round I have a way with words. Next time your passing if he goes off on one post him some dog sh*t then he might want to discuss.
