Anyone used one for sorting out hazy old headlamps?
I've got one that comes with 1500grit, 2500 grit, cutting compound and polish. The instructions give the impression that the paper is just for dealing with scratches though so i'm wondering if I can just go straight to the cutting paste. You only get 50ml though so if that doesnt do it, I guess I'd have to try tcut.
Just wonderin if maybe I should start with the 2500 grit, then the paste, then the polish....

Brasso and a cloth works well for me..

I bought the meguires kit for £20 and found it to be very poor on its own but ok for final polishing after wet sanding them first, cant really recomend it though.

Its one of those Glacier branded kits from machine mart.
I'll skip the paper then and go straight to the cutting paste.

My headlamps where shot on the focus
For £50 for a pair of headlamps it wasn't worth the bother to try and clean them up

I bought my kit to use on my bora, they were not as bad as some ive seen but could be better, you wont mess them up although it will look as if you have after the sanding but the polishing will make them look better just dont expect them to be as good as new an you wont be dissapointed.

Yeah cheers, not quite finished it yet but theyre looking a lot better, they couldn'tve get any worse. I was just a bit worried about messing the beam pattern up, Im pretty crap at keeping a leccy drill from wobbling off the line. Quite slow going with just the cutting paste, maybe I shoulda started with the 2500 paper, but I've been splodging G3 cutting paste on em too just to be sure ;D

Well, they came up alright in the end, sorry shoulda done before and after pics.
I ended up spending too long at the cutting paste stage expecting them to look much clearer. So to anyone else thinking of having a go, this was a 14 year old car with very badly clouded lights. I'd suggest 1 or 2 passes with G3 cutting paste, then 2 or 3 passes with the kit cutting paste, at which point they'll still look fairly crap. The final polish must still be fairly abrasive though as it takes them to a pretty clear finish.
Not a miracle cure but well worth it. Just dont spend hours and hours with cutting paste like this numptie did
