Hey guys I have a Mondeo mk4 1.8tdci, in at the minute. Problems are at random revs it will loose power as if its been switched off then it comes back on. Scanned for fault codes the only one coming on is u0140, any common issues etc i should be checking for?
Thanks

What have you checked so far?
What diag tool are you using?
How many miles?
Any work done recently?
Does it misfire?
does the instrument cluster drop out
Has it been serviced correctly at correct intervals (fuel filter blockage/restriction)
Injector spill off rates?

No does the instrument cluster drop out no, but battery light stayed on for a short while once whilst I was looking at it and traction control. Has it been serviced correctly at correct intervals (fuel filter blockage/restriction) unknown Injector spill off rates? Haven't checked yet Thanks

We had an iveco eurocargo a few years ago with the same symptoms, and the added confusion that it only ever did it when one particular bloke was driving it.
Eventually worked it out to be the ignition switch, and this one particular driver was hanging his own big bunch of keys on the trucks keys sent from my HTC using proboards android app

No it defo isn't ignition, just got the key and it will do it, seems to be more common when giving it full throttle, no fault codes reappearing.

Real time data is needed, and it might have codes logged in enhanced memory, may even be just going in limp due to a boost signal issue.

Seems to be boost related couldn't get over 60mph on motorway then went into limp home mode. Displayed engine malfunction with traction control light on. No fault codes and wouldn't rev over 1.5k, connected a small handheld device and no faults but cleared faults and it was ok. What sort of live data needs to be checked? Thabks

Can I do a fault code scan using dashboard? You can run instrument cluster self test On the older models you will get random fault codes which don't often correspond to the the vehicle fault or symptoms

instrument cluster Self-Diagnostic Mode. Simultaneously press and hold the OK button and turn the ignition switch from position 0, to position II.
Entry to the Self-Diagnostic Mode is confirmed when 'TEST' is displayed in the information and message center display. The set button must be released within three seconds of 'TEST' being displayed or the instrument cluster will exit the Self-Diagnostic Mode.
To navigate through or skip any of the instrument cluster Self-Diagnostic Mode tests, press the OK button. If the OK button is pressed for more than 3 seconds between tests, the instrument cluster will exit the Self-Diagnostic Mode.
The Self-Diagnostic Mode is deactivated when the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position or low battery voltage is detected.
If input data to the instrument cluster is missing or invalid, the information and message center will display '----'
