I voted Evo. In my opinion a better looking car esp the Evo8... Not keen on the flat 4 or the drivetrain arrangements on the scooby...

I've always fancied a Impreza but I only really like the classic shapes, nearly bought one before the Escort. May buy one one day if I get my double garage in the next few years. Don't think the wife will be to happy.

As I've never worked on either or in fact even driven them. So have no idea Going by looks alone I like the new Impreza s
I'd imagine the Mitsubishis to be quite plasticy inside
And having to explain to the Mrs why it cost x3 the price of a regular Mitsubishi might wear thin

Neither, they will end up moneypits!
Saying that I've always fancied an early Subaru, but they are too old now.

My personal preference would lean towards the Lancer. They're both pretty plasticy Japanese saloons, but the Subaru (especially around here) seems to appeal more to the Rally Jacket crowd, meaning you get a lot of knackered and abused examples. They also have a bit of a tendency to rust.

What I really want is now probably beyond my wallet as they are rising.

I'm just old-fashioned. Rover SD1 Vitesse TP. Nothing like as fast, but brutish and British.
I'll never be able to afford one (or find one, come to that....) so I'll just have to settle for my 3500SE parked in the machine shop for the last 8 years. Hmmm.
