Cousins of mine have a 1.2 V-plate clio for their daughter. It's been diagnosed with a blown head gasket. How much is it to fix one of these usually? £400-ish?

Do they know if anything caused it to overheat e.g. radiator; water pump

Don't think so. Quote they got was for £800. Methinks the owner of the garage doesn't want this particular job.

Indeed. Luckily I managed to get my bro to bin his 106 without such issues. Just got him a decent Rover 25 from the used car pitch by the garden centre round your neck of the woods.

Unless your going to be doing it for free or the cars mint I can't see it being economically viable

Unless your going to be doing it for free or the cars mint I can't see it being economically viable I won't be doing it. They're going to ask for some other quotes first. I keep suggesting a tidy little 25 but they won't listen to sense...

I am fed up with quoting our head gasket jobs for old cars. Customers never go ahead with them.
Last couple I have not really given them a written quote with parts and labour. Just threw a ball park number at them.

This does have 9 months MOT so if there's a sensible quote they might decide to fix it.
