Hi all, just joined up so here goes and happy new year to all. Looking for a bit of advice on this 1.6 tdci that came in today, Looks like the chain driving the cam in the head has slipped and has broken the rockers, at least 4 broken on the front cam, I just removed the front rocker cover and can see the bits down the cam box. Is this an expensive repair,is it lightly that valves are bent or is it an off to china job. I believe they can be a can of worns when they start. Any advice appreciated.

We've had this a couple times only on the Peugeots The tensioner/guide break up and cause the chain to jump/fail The ones we have seen bend the valves Expensive to repair You may get away with new rockers and valves, but you may find bits of chain/engine in the sump and further engine/turbo damage

Thanks Karl, I talked to my customer and he is now looking at getting a second hand lump. Probably the safest option all round.

And good s/h units will be hard to come by I would be inclined to repair what you have if the miles are ok If the chain tensioner has failed you may have oil pressure/flow issues which are well documented on these early dv6
