Hi, So I have no clue about mechanics and thought following my boyfriends advice and reading online I could simply change my blown single bulb. I found I can, it's actually really simple but this was after turning something in the wrong hole. From my discription below can any one help with what this is? So I have a Vauxhall corsa. Under the bonnet on both left and right it has 2 turn knobs each side for both headlight and signal lights, just below this there is a round casing with a rubber capping, inside there is a black box. Thinking I was turning the knob for the signal bulb I dislodged this and found it was connected to wired with a yellow rod, trying to replace this and it has fallen into the casing. Can anybody give me any idea as to what this is? I'm assuming it's some kind of connection to te fuse but again don't know. There is one each side beneath both turn knobs for the bulbs. Can I still drive my car?

A drink usually does the trick.

Yep does sound like an aim adjustment rod has fallen out
You might need to have the headlamp removed from the car , it can be quite fiddly to re position headlamp motors/ rods
So long as the beam pattern isn't flashing others you'll be fine

Yes it was really fiddly, I can reach it but cannot get it out. This may be a stupid question.. But will I be able to tell if the beam direction is off? Like will it be obvious or will I have to take it to the garage?

Once it's dark If you drive up to a wall or garage door etc ... Leaving about half a meter or so will do
You should be able to see both beam patterns
Both should be the same height
