I remember 20 years ago or so it was all the rage to machine a grove in the block face around the bores and fit piano wire to improve the clamping force of high boost engines head gaskets, a sort of cheaper alternative ti Wills Rings

Nobster, the cooling system has a reasonably new alloy radiator, twin fans. I think I need to be able to get more airflow through the radiator and intercooler, which my modded bumper will hopefully help with, needs finishing and painting first though.
I could also look into moving the radiator further forwards directly behind the cooler and then having the fans at the rear of the radiator, thus moving the rad further away from the turbo, however I'm concerned the fans could melt? This will also require some fabrication and plumbing mods, space is the limiting factor.
Karl, yeah it was a new head, I since found out the firm I got the head bolts from removed them from crate engines.
I haven't got a straight edge that I trust, either that or the ones I've tried are ok and the block is way off??

Gonna have to start adding up what all this is costing me too lol

It's probably looking like its gonna come in around the £500 mark for the repairs. Empty pockets now, its not getting a carrot this winter so I can pay some bills.
The wife is a good egg, she leaves me to it.
