Any electric compressor either r134 or 1234 also you need a specific A/C machine as to avoid cross contamination of the oils

The issue isn't static damage to the components while they're in use, but rather someone discharging static in to the ECU or sensors via the connector plug when fitting it. Yes

Any connector like that is not going to be in a bath of oil though? Or is it? So it becomes a more standard procedure of avoiding static on connection and disconnection?

Last week I had a 307 come in,in limp mode lack of accelerator, code for motorised throttle unit fault. Quick look on wiring diagram confirms, all power and wires coming from engine ecu. They elect for second hand unit,I gets one and fit it no problem. Now,no matter what I do,auto adaptives or reset, this fault wont clear and car is doing same thing. I tell them bad news, and get back on it next day. Next day,it starts up fine, fault erases and car drives fine!!! Work that one out!!! No battery was disconnected and car wasn't even locked or unlocked between the two days. System was Bosch, motronic I think!!! auto incorrect on my I pad just tried to "correct" motronic to moronic!!!!

as you guys might have worked out,i do a lot of french cars. clutches on reno's and vox can be a bitch to bleed, esp vivaro/traffic. the one piece of equipment i have for this, cost a few quid, and a washer pipe from a scrap car. this tip was given to us by someone on the old carmechanics forum. an oil can,you know the one which has a small lever, and you pump out a few drops of oil at a time. well, get a new one and fill it with brake fluid. connect it to the bleed screw on slave and pump away, you dont usually see any air bubbles in the master resivor but it usually gets a good pedal first time!!!!
also, for anyone caught out by this on the road side. nick the rubber washer pipe to screen, connect to brake caliper nearest to clutch slave, open both slave and brke bleed screws and pump brakes. the brakes system will remove air from the clutch system, and you will hardly need any extra fluid. afterwards, refitt pipe to washer pump, other end on floor, operate washers a few times, and its cleaned ifself out, ready to refit to washer jets!!!!

ive had two 307 cc come in in three days, same fault. first one two side lights not working,n/s. customer wouldnt leave it for long enough. next one side lights n/w o/s. now these have led lights for brakes and side lights. i noticed that the number plate light wasnt working on the o/s/r,i assumed it must be a blown fuse, couldnt find one,and theres no mention of it in the handbook, just says refer to dealer!!! so i puts a new bulb into number plate lamp,it comes on,i switch sides off, then off,and hey presto sidelights come on!! so i unplugged the number plate light, and the side went off again. after a few experiments it turns out that if number plate light goes off, then body computer turns off the led side lights on that side!!!!! whats the blo*dy point of that!!!!!

Put the multiplug back on, cycle ignition, the windows work! Now, tell me how that works!!!!

had to change the alt on a 55 reg berlingo today(2005 year) now,it was all straight forward, except the ringlet broke off,due to corrosion. ive got lots of spare electrical looms and so i cut off an alt ringlet, only now i needed to join the two(quite thick)wires together. looking around, there was nothing that i had that would do it,and being a saturday getting hold of a proper connector was next to impossible. i then spotted an aluminium coolant pipe in abox of pipes. cutting in to the correct length then slicing it in half, made it into a perfect crimp connector. so i passed the two copper wires past each other and crimped the pipe together, putting against the bellhousing i hammered it flat as well. once well insulated with tape,i attached it to the new alt and all was well.
hope this"bodge"might get someone else out of trouble one day.
