(a)When the faulty lambda showed up I went ' Googling' (as I had changed the engine and knew it did not have one ) and discovered that the
exact same thing had happened to others a number of times with a Renault Traffic - and a Renault 'tech' had answered that this indicated the scan tool was not compatible with Renault vehicles (and it would suggest that all feedback would be suspect ). It also indicated a problem with the glow plugs
but they all checked out fine ( 4 in the engine and 4 in the coolant )
(b)
The injector would not budge and I was going to send it to an engine reconditioner about 50 mls away . Talked to them and they have succeeded with most of these - but of course the possibility of injector breaking etc had to be kept in mind . The owner was busy and decided to keep going until such time as he could manage without it for a day or two. It was running reasonably well - until it refused to start .
(c) don't know much about scan tools leew - the guy who scanned it has a Delphi scanner for a few years so I leave that to him. Will ask him about crank sensor and rail pressure .Rang a friend who has a Launch and he told me that it didn't always give good results with Renault either . The 2 Renault dlrships which were about 25 mls away in opposite directions from me have both
closed down - gone .
Came across a site ( which I'm trying to find again ) which said
1) use a vacuum gauge to check at HP pump inlet when cranking - should give a fig of -0.7 to -1.0. Otherwise pump has failed .
2)sensor wire from sensor on fuel rail should read min of 1V when cranking but seemed to say 2V needed to start .
Thanks for replies . Will keep trying .
