If you know anybody who owns one it's worth mentioning the possible fire issue with them. DVSA are aware of the problem but no VOSA recall as yet. Vauxhall has issued a safety inspection notice and it will be done free of charge. What I don't know is if any work is needed is the cost covered by the Manufacturer? Just found this information on the Vauxhall website.

All the news reports are suggesting fires due to faulty repairs, but if this was the csse a recall wouldn't make sense.

Sounds as though it may be down to heater resister ? some of the cars involved the resister was only working on the high position

seems to be the knock on effect of a motor issue they seize drawing too much current which in turn heats the resistor which in turn catches the pollen filter alight as it's about an inch away great design ... climate control models are ok apparently
( not my words stolen from motorwise on Facebook )

In the news a couple of days back Vauxhall were saying the fires were caused by faulty repairs from the trade ?
Really, so many Vauxhalls all suffering the same fault and so many different garages all making the same mistakes doing the repairs ?
Surely the cars had to be faulty to start with?
Back in the 1980's I used to change a lot of fuse boxes on Vauxhalls, the reason being a design issue, that issue was that Vauxhall in their infinite wisdom decided that it was a very good idea back then to put the heater blower 20A fuse in the fuse box parallel to the rear heated screen fuse 30A, so both devices were switched on both at the same time and then over a period of time the fuse box melted between the fuses and caused a short circuit, luckily back in the day I only witnessed wiring and fuse box failures due to melting, but no burn outs, Vauxhall appear to have a lot to learn even some 30 years later.
