2005 chevrolet lacetti 1.6 auto, when applying light or low speed braking it seems like the abs is kicking in,you can hear and feel it,doesn't do it at higher speeds or under firm braking,no lights and no dtc's stored, going to get wheels off tomorrow any pointers?

Thanks rhuby was going to take wheels off tomorrow and have a root around, will look at the rings and sensors ,don't really want to pull out the sensors as they usually break but if needs must, don't want to turn off abs either, thought a broken ring would have thrown up a dtc but at such low speeds maybe not

I reckon rhubarbs hit the nail on the head. You won't need to remove the sensor to check the abs ring

Unfortunately a family member as one of these same spec
One of the front abs rings on the half shaft was cracked. You can buy the rings on the bay for a few quid
But I went for a whole cv joint/boot kit Which came complete with abs ring
For under £50

il have a look today and report back, had a root around on web last night and not a lot of info but Mac57 may be onto something as a forum on gm trucks report corrosion is a common factor and a good clean up generally sorts them out, however sensor has to be removed.

I first encountered this trouble on the HH-R Rover 400. Used to cost a fortune to replace the whole CV joint. They're for buttons these days.
We had an 06 or 09 (not that interested) Chevrolet Matiz thingy in the other week. Cracked reluctors, rotten screws for the air box, just horrible, cheaply constructed cars.
