XUD 1.9D engine Rather odd belt tension set up usuall pivoted tensioner with lock off nut but also has a sleeve, spring and plunger which is a total nightmare to assemble onto the engine I ended up compressing it in a vice and drilling a peg hole in the sleeve bolting it altogether and pulling the peg once in position and all bolted tight, but surely there is a better way ?? Loosen. The 13mm bolt at the top of the tensioner Put a 3/8 bar into it and push bar anti clockwise. The 13mm nut at the other end will keep the tensioner in the off position. Once belt is done loosen the nut and the spring will push the whole lot to tention belt. If needed pull on the 3/8 bar to give the tentioner a final nip and then tighten both 13mm nut and bolt. Easy!

Cheers FCF but, adjusting it is not the issue re-assembling the plunger components is once, apart it is not possible to compress them with the adjuster mechanism D

Why did you dissemble it? I put the spring and cup into mount Touch that part of the tentioner to keep it in place, then push tentioner onto stud then put the top 13mm bolt in
