Hi guys, I found this forum and thought I'd sign up. I'm a 40 year old graphic designer that has recently re-discovered my youth. I've always maintained my own vehicles, mostly motorbikes but last year I bought a 1986 Golf GTI and this year I bought my wife a 1993 BMW touring, obviously with both of these I have enough jobs to keep me busy. I'm also half way through evening school on vehicle restoration where I'm focusing on body work, welding and painting. I'm on a few other forums, related to the cars and bikes I own but it's always handy to know more people and pick up more tips.

Welcome to the Forum eddypeck. Can I be nosey and ask where you are based. North South East West. yep, no worries. I'm just outside of Bristol. And here's the line up that's currently keeping my busy. The middle one is a breaker for parts.

So although I've done the introduction for me, a few things have changed so I thought I'd introduce a couple of new cars. I've continued to have fueling issues with the white MK2 Golf, there were threads on here elsewhere. To resolve this the main k-jet parts have now all gone off to KMI, a Bosch injection specialist, for refurbishment. Since I was using that as transport I had to get a sensible daily so bought a Mk4 GT TDI 130. Bit of a yawn, but well spec'ed and functional. The second BMW I bought has now gone to a new home. I got it as a parts car and I had everything I needed off it. The rest is going to be stripped, the shell acid dipped and rebuilt from a 316 to 325. Oh, and with the white Mk2 golf being off the road for the past couple of months I was getting itchy, so bought another. This time on the later digi system not K-jet. Currently the drive looks more like this. However we've plans to sell the BMW in the near future and we've got a Honda CRV on the way. Wouldn't have been the car I would have chose if I'd gone car shopping, but a close friend has offered it to us so we thought we'd give it a go. The last Japanese car I had was a Datsun Cherry.... needless to say I've steered away from them ever since, but I gather they've got quite good these days

I see you've got your other touring up for sale, if you don't mind me saying it's about a grand overpriced Yeah, the 130 goes OK it's just not as enjoyable to drive as the Mk2s. As for pricing on the other E30, it was supposed to be a keeper so I wasn't worried about throwing money at. So a lot has gone into it in the past 10 months, with premium parts etc. such as custom-made, lifetime warrantied, full stainless steel exhaust, 4 brand new Toyo tyres, a Sachs clutch, among other things. So it currently stands me in at over £3k it's not quite ready for sale yet so I thought I'd test my luck. Not expecting to get the value I've put it up for and I know you rarely recover what you put into a car in the short term, but no harm in asking, someone might bite and if serious enough a deal can be done. Like the Mk2, pricing is odd on these at the moment, you see some for hundreds, others for thousands. This is a good clean example that I paid a premium for in the first place. I'd hope to get close to £2.5k so not losing too much on it for it, ambitious? maybe, but I've seen a few out there around that and above. I'm planning to get the last couple of jobs finished off in the next couple of weeks. I have a new fuel tanks and reconditioned rear axle etc. with all new OE bushes to go in. I'll put a fresh MOT on it and park it up at a few shows for sale and see what happens. But I appreciate the comment if I can't get at least £2k for it I'll find away to sit on it if I can.

If you have the room and can keep the bodywork in good condition I would personally hang on to it..The values on these are going up and up.. Mine's going in for a MOT on Saturday, it's been off the road for 3 years...I can't see myself ever getting rid of it...I've had it 7 years now..Not seen another one that's as solid.. I've done the opposite to you, I've looked after it, but not thrown money at it.
