I need some help, I have a 2000 Honda accord it has about 280 000 kms on it and it's manual. It runs beautifully most of the time but as soon as the engine gets hot I cannot get it to go over 3000 rpms. In every gear as soon as I hit the 3000 mark it's almost as if a governor kicks in and the engine sputters and I lose all power until I shift up and then it's fine again until 3000 rpms. Any ideas??

Check your oil level is ok.Is your oil warning light on or flickering? Reason I ask is low oil level or pressure will have an adverse effect on the VTEC engine. Needs looking at by a competent garage to determine the problem really.

It isn't on or flickering but I have noticed my oils been low a few times and topped it up and it didn't seem to have the issue for a few days, although my mechanic said that wouldn't be causing the issue so we assumed it may be a coincidence. Sounds like I might need a new guy hah

Sounds like I might need a new guy hah It needs scanning for any fault code(s) and go from there. I assume you are not in the UK as this is a UK Forum so hello and welcome.

Thank you, and no I am not. I am Canadian but I don't care where the help comes from as long as it's helpful I was posting on many forums to get any ideas. I am supposed to be having it read this weekend so hopefully we can figured it out then
