My Dad now has his X-trail, I'm doing a couple of bits for him next week.
I'm changing the rear diff oil, straight forward. I'm thinking is it worth doing the transfer box aswell, I've never really had anything to do with transfer boxes in my 19 years in the trade, is it just a simple drain and refill?
Might do the gearbox oil aswell.
Cheers. Stu.

I'd certainly check the level and condition of it

Most vehicles have a level plug at least. If it's not due for renewal, but you're under the car anyway I'd just check the level and stick a finger in - if it's mucky then I'd change it. Most transfer boxes don't take much to be fair and they don't usually take expensive oil either. So if in doubt change it.

(Always worth removing the filler plug first, even if you are going to replace the oil. You don't want to drain something then find you can't get the filler plug out....don't ask.)
