Hello guys
Got a phone call earlier 2002 Megane mk 2 1.6 16v
Poor starting when cold He's said he's had car a week or so.
He's said on first start if the day it just clicks. Said windows etc all start clicking on trying to start.
Said after a while it will start and then start ok for rest of the day Until it's left over night again
It's coming on Tuesday just wondering if anyone seen any if these with issue.

I'd be checking battery voltage, and connections are nice and tight to and from the starter motor..Also earth leads.. From there volt drop on the starter motor

Did think maybe a bad earth
Or resistance in circuit.
But it's weird how it starts fine rest of time.
Could well be something daft when it turns up.

My mate had a similar problem with an old Leyland Mini. It would really struggle to start on the first go, but once it did it was fine.
Turned out to be the battery earth connection. Remember on that first go your having to turn a stone cold engine so the loading might just be enough to cause an issue.

Had a look at this earlier and starting fine
Battery is ok 12.5 drops 11.6 cranking
Volt drop earth side was 0.17 Power cable was 0.25 And also 0.2 for the solenoid wire
93 amps rising to 100 after extended cranking.
Told have to leave it over night when they can for a cold check.
Possible sticking solenoid maybe?

May be nothing but my daughter had one of these ,the worst car ever for electrical gremlins, she had this problem and i cleaned the connector in the boot where hatch closes and if it's got doorcard running lights make sure they are off when door closes.Hers ran fine all day aswell as the wee trip to work gave it a charge

Don't discount starter, nothing worse than French/valeo components, I'm pretty sure a terry chocolate orange is more robust!!
