Right folks here's a genuine what to do question. I drive a ageing ford focus 1.8 petrol 1999 year now with 130,000
I have mot do at the end of the month aswell as tax
Now there's quite a few jobs I need to do or get shot of it
Jobs inc clutch which has been slipping for months
Exhaust is rotten and leaking
Discs are shoot and vibrate
Rear anti roll links broken/rusted
X2 tyres on limit
Drivers door lock failing (have a good spare under by bench)
Rest of the car is consitant to age/miles
So do I do the repairs/mot/tax ?
Or get rid?
I figure parts are gonna be around $350-400
Plus me road tax at £120 for 6 months

It's borderline innit It's been reliable and trouble free to date? If so then I think I'd be doing the repairs. Also is it still solid enough underneath? What else will you get for £500 that won't need anything doing?

No really I'd fancy a little tut tut like brummy a skoda which does 99 mpg I don't care to much for what I drive or style etc
Thing is budget would only stretch to max of $1000 and what can you get for that? Not much
So I'd be buying another shitter Which would need work
Think ill get a push bike

dont your place take in any trade ins? we used to get first refusal in most dealers that i worked in,got some right bargins over the years! get to know your local friendly traders,if your not fussed over the car 3 door or 5 door theyll flog you a nice 2/3 door motor, these are always cheaper than their 5 door brethren. the ford guy two doors away sold a fiesta cheap yesterday, ill ask him if hes got any more cars, does it have to be a ford? funny enough my v reg xantia decided to throw a hissy fit after i left it running at 6pm tonight while waiting for a customer, flippin steam and smell everywhere under bonnet!!!! only taxed it monday

Anything at or round $1000 will be a banger/turd unless your very lucky
I might keep my eye out for the trade cars trouble is you've got to be quick because no sooner are they in the yard there gone again

Think i will do the repairs on the focus and run her for a bit longer
It's been a good car for the last 5 years
And to be fair I haven't spent hardly anything on it
