Hello guys
Had a phone call earlier mazda 6 has had dpf removed and mapped out.
Now its apparantly got lots of white/grey smoke.
They've tried 3 different maps and still same their saying its mapped out correctly and think its a fault could I take a look.
I'm thinking its not mapped correctly do these run spots injection for dpf? How easy would it be for me to tell from data wether map has correctly deleted dpf? Have snap on modis and launch.

Personally wouldn't get involved. Why come MOT time the vehicle will automatically fail the MOT test if the filter had been fitted as standard but is found to be no longer present. Perhaps one of the Forums MOT testers would like to comment. Is this now in force from February 2014 or not yet? By the way It is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Whether this is going to be monitored by the powers that be I don't know but removal of a DPF will almost invariably contravene these requirements making the vehicle illegal for road use. Fines are up to a £1000 for a car and up to £2500 for an LGV.

From what I gather he's saying a garage has removed dpf and drilled it out. So to look at it appears still their.
But could be a nightmare I agree.
Told him too busy for next few days anyway. As wanted to see if anyway to tell but from what I can gather the only real way is use relevant kit to pull the map from car and sent it too someone to look at.
So not really worth probably no money in it. Either

You are willing to carry out illegal activity and charge out your services No it's been gutted by another garage and tuned by a mobile company and now he has faults and he wants to see if has fault with his car or prove they haven't mapped correctly. That's all wanted too see was if be viewing data something would stand out so could see it had or hasn't been carried out correctly.

I agree with Karl on this...You'd be mad to put your name down anywhere near this. Serves them right for buggering about with things that they don't understand tbh.

How would DPF delete cause white/grey smoke on its own ? Because the DPF files in the ECU haven't been deleted 100% or some files have been corrupt.

I was thinking worn engine but wanted to see of theirs a way to tell if dpf delete was done correctly without getting into looking at map files
Had really really brief look today after telling him its not really something we'd looking at getting involved with.
Literally involved lifting bonnet making sure engine was their and checked oil level did a quick code read for him. Oil looked fresh but was low. He says it was serviced 3 days ok. Told him too it up and keep eye on level and chances are if its using oil that's his smoke.
Got a ten quid tip off him so not all bad lol

There used to be lots of talk on HJ about these and a failed suction valve in the pump causing smoke that worsened if the car was nose down. Feathers diesel in Halifax were the specialists used to repair them
