My new car has been smoked in, didn't seem bad when I first looked at it as parked with wondows open but after being locked up for the night it's not nice. Any tips for getting rid of this please?

clean all the glass and hard plastics with a suitable cleaner/degreaser cover the seats and carpets with soda crystals, which are about a quid a bag from your favourite supermarket / corner shop leave the soda on at least overnight, if not longer, then vacuum it up. it will absorb smells from the fabric. if that fails, get the vax out and wash all the seats. try not to get them very wet though, it might just wash the smell deeper into the foam

Try a steamer with a micro fibre cloth wrapped round the end. Don't get it to wet as you need to kill the bacteria rather than drown it. Use a clean dry micro fibre cloth for blotting and drying.

Pour a few pints of gear oil over the rear seat. That should drown out any smell

I was reminded yesterday that when Rhubarb and Martyn went on the car raly late last year in the Peugeot 406 they used chlorine dioxide gas treatment to get rid of smoke smell. Might be worth asking Simon if it worked?
