Rough job this morning! My 78 year old Mothers little dog has got kidney problems, got to take it for a "one way trip" to the vets.
Little dog is thirteen, it has had a good life.
Poor Mum is in a tear-full state over it.

Nasty deed done... Hole dug! Made wooden cross from a nice bit of hard wood, engraved name with woodwork router, dates as well.
Having Mother round for Sunday dinner tomorrow.
Even thou I am so busy at the moment, I need to make the effort to take some time out to do a few things with her. Take her mind off it...
Could always buy her a puppy? But she reckons she does not want another dog (worried the next one will out live her).
Whole thing is a shame, as the dog did get her out a bit, worried this will be the slippery slope for her now.
Puppy wee-ing and pooh-ing everywhere would keep her busy? (purpose in life) No joke....

Give it a couple of weeks and she may change her mind. What about a different kind of pet? We do get so attached to them.

How about if / when she's ready instead of getting a puppy you get a grown up dog from a rescue place?

she reckons she does not want another dog (worried the next one will out live her). my mum said the same thing when the cat we had when i was a teenager passed away. 6 months later she took one in for a friend of mine who had 2 that didn't get on. she's got another 2 now as well.
