had a iveco van come in the other say. clutch pedal box broken letting clutch pedal return too much causing rod to come out of master cylinder. or thats what i thought!!! in fact the clutch master was faulty and letting rod let go,this then returned too far and broke the little bridge on pedal box which houses the clutch pedal switch. a new master/slave assembly would have got it going but this customer also had a new pedal box assembly fitted(plastic).

when opening new parts always keep the blanks that cover openings in new parts, they come in really handy to stop things driping when disconnected. those rubber bleed screw covers are really good for putting on the end of brake pipes to stop the system from emptying itself.

Ha ha funny you should say this as today I got a roasting as a big warranty job (by me) got rejected because the failed returned parts didn't have the blanking plug fitted ! Whoops

It's always been ford policy for years too ! any returns to have the blanking plugs, seals, caps etc
You need to make sure you use new nuts, bolts, gaskets, sealant where required
I'd all that correctly and gained prior approval
What ball ache ! I must ave done the job and chucked the failed part in the box ... Without thinking
Any repair on a diesel fuel system and you need to book a blanking kit out

We have to buy blanking kits when we send diesel or aircon, power steering pumps or injectors back for surcharge.
What a waste of money!

two pug 407's and one pug 207. ive had a 407 come in with abs faults, rear abs sensors signal error. when ive checked, the magnetic ring on bearing has been covered in iron filings from disc wear. cleaned off and all was well.
the 207 said cam position sensor faults same again removed them covered in swarf refitted and all was well. oh and another mechanic who had fitted a new wheel bearing to a 307 afterwards the pedal would pulsate, like when you get a cracked abs ring,he had stripped it all back down again thinking that he had fitted the bearing wrong way round or damaged the magetic encoder.it all ok to him. at this point he got me to have a look. when i looked at the hub on the floor, the only thing that i could see was the retainer ring was quite large and was obscuring the abs sensor,i told him to move it round so that the gap in retainer went in line with sensor,he did this, refitted and all was well.

avoid doing any work for pikeys, they never pay!!
had another mechanic come round in a panic,he had fitted a pas pump to a xsara picasso but it sounded exactly the same. i got it down to a worn out idler on the aux belt.its a plastic bearing, dosnt sound bad when by hand but in situ was terrible and sounded like a worn out pas pump!! new one got it sorted.
had a 08 plate mondeo knocking from sus when driven over some types of roads, was the shock again.
