I'm considering viewing a 2004 Astra 2.0 dti van with 150k miles, which has an issue..
When the main plug on the loom (at the front of the engine bay) is plugged in, the van won't start or read/show codes errors
Any idea why this is happening guys?

IIRC these old DTI diesels suffered a lot from injector pump mounted ECU failures, so it wouldn't be susrprising if that's the cause.

Thanks for your reply. That sounds like it could be the issue. I'm wondering if a secondhand unit would be a solution... I imagine a new unit would be costly

It might be worth contacting PF Jones, in Manchester.
They service injectors/pumps and provide an exchange basis service.

Are the details correct? 2004 2L td?
20 years old?
older vans seem to be 1.7 / 1.9?

I think on a 2004 the van would be an Astra G (1998-04), which came with the 1.7 TD from Isuzu or 1.7/2.0/2.2 DTi units. The 1.9 CDTi unit (bought in from FIAT) arrived in the 04-10 Astra H models To add to the confusion, the Astra H also came with the 1.3 CDTi (FIAT) unit as well as a 1.7 CDTi, which I think was the Isuzu engine
