Was du to visit my son this weekend gone, but he messaged to say that Ben had been sick in the night…, We could cancel if we wanted…,so we did.I’m at risk for anything like this and avoid contact where possible….
Come Sunday, son rings, ‘are you coming over ? Ben is ok now…’
We agreed to visit after all. Got to his house 25mins later…. Got stuck into some diy for him, then around 3-30 made a a start on lunch/dinner..
Went to bed around 10-00, got up Monday morning, went home… Late afternoon his wife rings, ‘John in hospital collapsed at the roadside and abandoned his car…, So back to his, pick up his wife, take her to hospital with a change of clothes for him….he spewed everywhere….got his car keys and recovered the car… All good so far..,then James decides to be ill…sick all over….late into the night, my turn….up and down about 8 times with s and d….. Wiped me out…
Spent all day today in bed trying to recover… Seemingly doctor at hospital said it was food poisoning!….Jury out on that one….

Norovirus
Drink plenty of water - no dairy products - limit food with high fat content for a few days.
Eat bland - keep drinking plenty of fluids...
Vaseline or barrier cream for you "sore end" is not a bad call either

Look after yourself, rest and take it easy for another 24hours, it will soon sort it self out. The human body is a wonderful thing, but needs a bit of lay-up time every so often...

Modern things, same as above, rest, fluids, rest, sweat it out.

We're paying now for all the sanitising through covid, no immunity to anything To be fair Norovirus is an absolute barsteward of a thing. I had a bout of it before COVID and it put me on my back for 2-3 days. I suspected food poisoning as the symptoms kicked off in the evening after having a chicken wrap from a supermarket for lunch. Little did I know that I'd caught it from work the day before and that they'd had to get an industrial deep cleaning crew in (residential outdoor activity centre) because Norovirus lingers on surfaces etc. After the 3 days I was feeling better, so my folks came over to check on me. All my dad had to do was walk in to my house and sit down and he ended up catching it, but he ended up in hospital with it. By this point we knew it was Norrovirus and my mum clearly told them that was the case when he was admitted. They then waited 3 days for a test to come back saying Norovirus and they couldn't pack my dad out of that hosiptal quick enough. If there was a catapult on hand he'd have been launched with it! Eventaully my folks got contacted by their local environmental health dept and they started asking where they'd been/where they'd eaten etc. Once the meantioned I'd been ill and worked at xyz the bloke apparently perked up a lot, as they weren't dealing with another outbreak Get well soon chief, my only practical advice is a little water an often until your internals sort themselves out.

Most food poisoning isn’t food at all, keys, money, mobile phone all dirtier than a toilet seat. Toilet door handles too. Always wash your hands after touching any of that and your eyes, nose mouth etc let alone eating
Never put any of that in your mouth…. I’ve seen a young woman with baby do that this morning with her keys, she’ll kiss her child 20 times today…

Norovirus not nice at all, wife had it during COVID and was very poorly. I also agree we make things worse sometimes by trying to achieve germ free completely, I used to play out as a kid with engines, wildlife, garden etc and never heeded advice to wash hands much! Was hardly ever ill.
I seem to have very strong immunity as a result, or maybe just lucky. I get the odd bout of the runs if I have too much rich food or something, but never throw up. Last time that happened was over 35 years ago now- wife thinks I’m a freak as never thrown up all the time we’ve been married, she couldn’t even give me Norovirus!
Famous last words of course….😕
