Just purchased a Citroen C1 for a run-around car. Mileage is high 120k but runs fine.
I am suspecting that the MOT maybe fixed because the car just passed the MOT before the purchase. I have found out that the MOT garage is associated with the seller. The car initially failed the MOT on a number of small repairs which is expected for a 17 year old car with high mileage. One of the fails was "Emissions unable to be completed Exhaust leak (8.2.1.2 (d))" The car still had a blowing exhaust after the MOT test had been carried out, this was no problem because of the price of the car and new exhausts for C1's are cheap. My main concern is was the emission test carried out? It seems that the car maybe using excessive engine oil although no smoke is blowing out of the exhaust.
The C1 is petrol when I have had MOT's on my other cars (diesels) I get a print out of the emissions results, is this also the case for petrol vehicles?

A Basic Emissions Test would (should ) have been carried out as part of the MoT test and the results recorded.
The results sheet is not always handed to the customer in my experience.

To be honest if the garage wanted to fudge it they could just shove the probe up a different exhaust pipe and get the right result, so you’ll just have to make the best of what you’ve got. Fix the exhaust, if there’s no warning lights and it runs OK then just enjoy it!
