....as the actress said to the bishop.
Something odd happened last night. I had an Email from the owner of the little Polo 1.2 that I had in the workshop last Autumn. I thought to myself, "Oh no, what now?" or word to that effect, but it was a good Email.
The fix has been 100% successful, and the owner an partner have just done a couple of thousand miles over the Christmas break - not a hint of a problem, fuel consumption better than even when new, drives like a dream, and now likely to stay in their garage for another few years.
So the prognosis and repair for these 1.2 CJZC engines appears to be good - catch them early, and get that turbo cam lubricated with ultra-high-temperature grease, before the actuator knackers itself, and throws loads of emissions/lambda/airpath faults, with the ultimate effect of really goosing the aftertreatment and induction circuits.
It's nice when you get good feedback on these things (for a change), as it can move your diagnosis is a different direction next time! Most customers just "go quiet" when it's all fixed.
