My trusty 2010 Focus 1.8 petrol has served me well for almost 5 years now, however I do fancy a bit of a change.
Problem is I'm not terribly keen on the idea of a getting an Ecoboost 3-pot MK3 Focus petrol, due to reliability and roughness issues so I'm going to have to broaden my horizons.
My requirements (non negotible) are:
Petrol/hybrid engine (don't do the mileage where diesel makes sense) Approx the same bumper-to-bumper length as a MK2 or MK3 Focus hatchback (to fit in my garage)
My preferences
Hatchback 4+ pot engine Decent parts availability
Any suggestions?

What's your budget? VW Golf GTi would be on my list or the new Honda Civic Si which IIRC comes with a six speed manual box with a 1.5 turbo engine. Can't remember if the other Civic models are only CVT transmission you would have to check. Older Civic Type R may be?

Her 1400 2016 Seat leon cost £11000 in Jan 2019, WBAC value it at £9300 ATM, good for us / bad for you - it just goes to show how much used cars have inflated in value post covid.
It's a good car, 40 MPG, mostly short journeys and does 3K miles per year on average, currently on 51K - we buy slightly high miles and her low annual mileage brings this down - this has worked well for us on her last two purchases.
My previous MK7 Golf estate 2L TDi was basically the same chassis but was much nicer to drive

To be fair I have been looking at the Auris as a possibility, and it so happens there was a 2015 one in the car park today so I could compare sizes with my Focus. Only problem seems to be that as with everything else the prices are still very high, so I'll have to hold on for now.

How about the Nissan Pulsar I quite like the look of this Japanese offering…( currently wearing rose tinted specs…😎 )
Or what about a Seat Leon?

I had an Auris Hybrid for 2 odd years again faultless only reason I traded it in was the trade in offer on a C-HR was to good to refuse otherwise I would have kept it for another few years.

12 years of trouble free motoring with a Toyota Corolla and almost 5 years with a Mitsubishi Colt, I'm a tad biased towards the Jap C.rap

Neighbour 3 doors from me had a C-HR....said it was a pile of crap....traded it back for summat else.. Poor mileage on leccy and even worse on petrol...Either her driving style or she got a duffer imho..
