BMW E93 INJECTOR PROBLEM

I have been having cold start issues for a few months on my BMW E93 325 3L 2008 N53 engine and I was driving home from work earlier in the week and the yellow engine light started flashing and the car stank of fuel with fuel smelling exhaust so I pulled over and got it recovered.

I started it up this evening and at idle i can hear something rattling and the engine sounds very lumpy if I give it some revs upto around 1K no rattle as soon as I release the throttle the rattle is back and the engine is shuddering.

is this related to the injectors failing or something more serious ?

By your description it sounds like the engine is misfiring...Coil packs pack up for fun on these.

You need to get the fault codes read for starters to see which cylinder is affected.

Vanos unit playing up would be my guess - you need to plug this in to find codes.

Intake and exhaust phase faults.

You will get misfire codes as well.
