Hi chaps, as some may have seen from my Triumph Stag project thread, I am not a stranger to bodywork or spraying- I would stick my neck out and without being big-headed say the finish on the Stag is better than factory ( although given BL factory quality that may not be much of a boast 🤔)
But I have always used cellulose and a cartridge based mask. Now Mrs Sorted scraped the rear arch on her Astra on a supermarket car park bollard about 18 months ago. I repaired it and painted the wing using colour matched aerosols base and clear. Which looked quite good. For about 6 months. Since then the finish has deteriorated to pretty much matt. So I want to do it with my trusty gun for a better finish. But I am out of touch with modern paint systems- what can I spray at home without an air fed mask? I know anything with ISO’s is out but would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

I wouldn’t discount non-2k stuff (at least not from a proper gun, rather than a rattle can. I’ve done a few touch up jobs, including bumpers and even a whole front wing once with cellulose before. I was unbelievably lucky with the colour match on the wing and it took a bit of polishing but it took a shine as well as the rest of the car and two years later it was only starting to dull down a fraction and came up with a rub.
