Hi all, just signed up, Loving the forum, I've been out of the trade for a while, from back in the good old days where we could repair things, need to get back in touch with the times,
I am looking at buying a OBD Scan tool, mainly for light commercial, Renault, Ford, Mercedes, Peugeot, looking to be able to DPF Regen, re-code injectors, key code, and the usual resets after repair, have a budget of round £1000,
looking around there is a lot of conflicting advice, I think I have narrowed it down to an Autel MS906BT/TS or Launch X431pro S, all info seems to be car related and no mention of commercial, are the systems the same on both or is a specific tool required for commercial, just wanted to check before I buy one, appreciate any advice or feedback you can give, Thanks, Daren, Bristol

Hi Daren, I have had a lot of success over the years with the Autel equipment/softwares, which will extend just into light commercial, but only just.
To cover the commercial stuff properly, you are looking at AutoCom/Delphi Trucks, or TEXA, but either way, you won't get much for your money.
The primary thing is that the commercials tend to need diagnostic-plug adapters more than modern passenger cars. So whatever kit you go for, you need to ensure it comes with plugs for things like Sprinter.
I can do quite a few things on products like Transit, Master, Sprinter, etc.etc., but Iveco is right off the radar for the Autel softwares (at the moment), but also bear in mind that the MS908 MaxiSys unit is retailing around £2300 minimum at the moment, and I don't know how comprehensive the softwares remain on the other Autel products down the list. I think you might just be able to get some secondhand equipment for your money, but £1000 is not going to go too far in the wonderful world of Commercial diagnostics (big vehicles = big money)
