Classic car show at the NEC anyone going, I shall be there Saturday 9th with three friends, looking forward to meeting more friends on the Austin Seven stand and sorting a problem out I have on my Austin Ruby, great to see all the old cars in excellent condition and brings many memories back.

I'll be making an appearance on the sunday on a friend's stand (the Modern Classic Executive Cars group in hall 8) and staying to help them clear up.

Going via the train on Friday hopefully, if not probably Sunday if my neighbour can't cover his business with staff on Friday.
Not keen on weekend hustle and bustle and much prefer Friday.

A bit too far to take the Cortina, capped on annual mileage.

What would be deemed as a Modern Classic Executive Car? Basically its your executive type cars up to about the early 00s, so your Carlton/Senators, Granadas/Scorpios and the like.

Sunday was very busy, and a lot of fun with the lads on the stands. One of the cars was a Sterling 825 SL, which was Rover's attempt to sell the 800 series in the USA, and in typical Austin Rover fashion it fell flat on its ar*e! The car on the stand had been driven from Idaho to New York before being shipped over. It looked in a right state but was mechanically solid, and even the electric seatbelts worked! Here's a few pics of the day www.flickr.com/photos/183839888@N06/albums/72157711733288058

Thanks for these photos, Rhyds! I don't often get a chance to go to the classics shows these days, but it's great to see a snapshot of the displays. I used to often be involved with the stands at the NEC for various Rovers, but nowadays all I can do is hope that I can get my own cars undercover and back on the road.
