villiers aren't villiers anymore though. i knackered the engine on an old merry tiller thing a few years ago, bought a brand new engine off ebay, next day delivery £110 correct crank diameter, stud spacings for the frame to mount it, complete with tank & carb etc, bolt it down, fit belt pulley to crank, put oil & petrol in it struck up second pull. can't knock it but i'm sure it's a chinese clone

yeah wish it had a propper starter though pain in the ass wrapping the rope round when it wont start Cheat and use a cordless drill! You could use a cordles drill, but make sure its a heavy duty one...with at least an 18 v battery....and plenty of grunt.... I used mine to start a couple of engines that I have ( no rope/no pull start) and they took their toll on my drill....magic smoke.... Confession....I have stationary engines as another interest....damn it, have I come out now?

I know that there's loads on here old enough to remember it so:
have you taxed it & it & made a bogey trailer to hitch up, it so reminds me of Richard Briers & Felicity Kendal in The Good Life seventies bbc sitcom
look on YouTube, BBC the good life rotovator 😂
