Hey fellow wrenchheads, thought that after loitering for a while it was time to belly up to the bar and say hi
Old guy, I work on my stuff only, no work for profit. I probably have had 125 (probably a lot more) cars and trucks but I typically swap or sell them when they need gas or oil. Right now I have a 99 Ford F250, 7.3, manual 4wd turbo. And a 2000 Buick Regal and a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4wd alltime. Just average blue collar drivers that I like because I dont care if they get a ding in the side when it's parked at Walmart or if I am running out in the woods and a branch carves its initials into the side when I am going down an old logging road. Older stuff that runs great and is easy to work on, vs fighting a computer fed 2019 Prius
My point is, I logged on and made myself and identity known to all because I have a question about using Liquid Steel, Kwikweld, etc on the pressure tank of a air compressor. Will it withstand the pressure once it has set/cured/dried for 24/48 hours?
Thanks all, great to meetr you all and wishing you all a GREAT Christmas and New Years too!!!

Hi seriousoldschool.....( bit of a mouthful, especially after a mince pie... ) Just so you are aware, this is an english forum based in the uk....however I have an appreciation of American cars having holidayed several times that side of the pond... To your question on your air receiver issue, I would never ever recommend any kind of repair to a pressure vessel whether its using one of the many fillers/ metal putty type or even weld...,Its just not worth the risk of the filler being blown out at high pressure.... Think bullet.... My advice, try Craigs list or ebay for a second hand receiver...then have it hydraulic pressure tested before putting it into service..... Take care and merry christmas to ya....

Welcome to the forum. I must agree with chippie that repairs to pressure vessels would be a NO NO unless a professionally trained person were doing the repairing Anyway I was wondering about this you said; I was born at a very young age!I think I was created but I don't remember much about it

Let me tell you about the Birds and the Bees. Or was it under the boardwalk.

Welcome and a happy Xmas - from our side of the pond.
Forget air receiver repair - there are a lot of inches involved with your pounds per square inches.
Dangerous thoughts - repair your own air pressured fragmentation grenade.
