Hi all,
I have a 1993 Peugeot 106 1.1l that has 180,000+ miles on the clock. Unfortunately, recently I have noticed some bubbling around my fuel filler cap that seems to be getting worse by the week. I was just wondering what you would advise me to do, as its MOT is due next week. I have had the car almost ten years, and am reluctant to get rid of it for another one.
Regards

looking at that mileage & age i would say you've had all of the life of that car & a bit of someone else's too! rust around the filler cap isn't an automatic failure for mot if you're in the uk once the rust is there yo'll never get rid of it & it only gets worse as you've already noted, so realistically i would start looking for it's replacement personally

Just make sure there are no sharp edges which are likely to cause injury if you were to walk past the car
Assuming the panel isn’t within 30cm of a load bearing member or steering or suspension components/ likely to have adverse effects on said components
