He means, what make/model/year/mileage, service history........ What makes you think its a sticking valve? Done a compression test?

Stick a Forte motor flush in the engine oil and give it a good run for about 50 miles, won't do it no harm if the inside of the engine is not slugged up.

Thanks for all your posts, The obscure Italian thing that some may have heard of but more in the motor scooter line*, suddenly started a tapping noise when I was parking up, followed by a misfire. I was sufficiently alarmed to get some professional help. The diagnosis was No. 2 plug had decided to fire out its central electrode which was rattling about in the cylinder ! A new set of plugs later and all is fine.

Good news as long as no damage caused.
Just proves, check basics 1st before going for complex diagnostics or guesses.
Better off detailing the symptoms to get a course of action and ideas.

....The diagnosis was No. 2 plug had decided to fire out its central electrode which was rattling about in the cylinder !... Emmm... I don't mean to be patronising but I presume that is a layman's description. If the electrode really is rattling around in the cylinder your engine is fooked by now!

No it's embedded in the piston crown waiting for the most inopportune moment to make an appearance.

Only seen it a couple of times, but I wonder if the OP is referring to the central electrode that has detached slide down to contact the ground electrode and is now shorting the plug causing the misfire? They don't normally fall into the cylinder if this occurs but will misfire.
