The Vectra Mk.1 that I have been looking-at for the widow of its current owner has a strange MoT odometer history. I think I know what has happened. Its last MoT showed a sudden jump from circa 120k miles to 189k miles, but I think that the figure used for the last MoT was from the diagnostic interface, and would have been kilometres. Anyway, the odo is still not visible on the instrument cluster, just over a year onwards from the last MoT test date. Is this a RfR ?

Got the diagnostic machine onto it this morning. My guess was correct, last MoT has entered kilometres, not miles!
I'll have a go and see if I can get the display reading again, as there were otherwise no faults (other than a low battery historic code on the engine) across any of the car's controllers. I'm amazed by this - a total change from reading Disco3's, that's for sure!
What's the chances of getting the MoT entry for this next test to read a "mileage" that is 5/8ths of the last one? Will the system kick the tester out? The prospective buyer doesn't care a jot about this, he understands what might have happened, and he just says he will buy on what he sees and hears from the car. Good man.

Change the backlight bulb.... Bunged a 286 1.2W bulb into the bulbholder. All sorted. 20year old plastic around the dash and vents, what could possibly go wrong?
