Having a clear-out and found some 25+ year old fibreglass. Amazingly apart from having to use some fresh hardener it was absolutely fine and managed to successfully repair a small hole in an exhaust! A bit late to win the Mk2 Astra though

No entry form unfortunately.
The heady smell of filler and fibreglass takes me back to my youth, in fact I passed my driving test in 1991, 4 weeks after turning 17!

I too passed my test in 1991... 4 weeks after turning 17. I actually took my test a day or two after my 17th, it would have been on the day but my birthday was on the weekend. I failed as a bus was sitting in a layby with it's right hand indicator on, I gave way to let it pull out like you're supposed to .... turns out he was a tw*t and still collecting fares. Apparently I hesitated! Anyway 4 weeks was the soonest I could get a retest.
I also remember the smell, my first car was a TR7 I bought at the age of 15 leaving myself a few years to get it ready... needless to say at that age and not knowing much better, filler and fibreglass were possibly a little over used.

I very much doubt the prize is still running.

I very much doubt the prize is still running. Probably full of filler now...... I also remember the heady days of my first car (an Allegro) with that distinctive smell of P40 in its sills and seat crossmembers...... . It took me from Xmas1982 to my 17th birthday in 1984 to get it back on the road - an MoT write-off at 6 years old with my Mum's ownership!!!! I promised to never ride a motorbike if I took this car on FOC from her. It would have been safer to ride a supercharged Puch Maxi than drive this thing, it was that bad. Newest car I have ever owned........
