Hello Guys, i'm Damien, I buy and sell cars, however i seem to be a bit different in that i do most of the work (apart from paintwork) myself.
Been doing this for about 8 months now and just recently started doing some work here and there for others in my quiet times (usually the 3 days to 2 months it takes to sell the cars that are ready!). I've been in and around cars most of my life, from welding and restoration to engine and gearbox rebuilds.

Hello Damien welcome to the forum , do you buy and repair minor crash repair stuff. Like cat c stuff I tend to avoid anything that has been written off, i've done a few and found the resale value is lower, you have to pay out for paintwork and it narrows down the number of customers once they have a marker against them. I prefer stuff with mechanical failures, blown engines/head gaskets/knackered gearboxes that kinda stuff. Most of the cars i get are still being maintained by the dealer so you can guess the quotes the owners are getting to repair these issues!!! Welcome to the Forum young man. Is this a Full-Time occupation now or part-time? Full time and loving it!

I used to love it but we have our ups and downs.I'm a bit older than you so tread carefully as they say and remember CAVEAT EMPTOR. Forum is full of advice fom various generations so don't be afraid to ask. What you do with it is the dangerous bit.

Hello and welcome!
Regarding doing up "uneconomical to repair" cars a few people I know of are doing a good trade in petrol Rovers and MGs. Usually the head gasket can be sorted quite easily (and the original faulty manifold gasket or water pump fixed at the same time) and you're then left with a pretty good car for not a lot of cash

He made a good return even with paying me for the labour. I tend not to stick to any particular car or make, just go with what feels like i could make a good return on and what could be an interesting job to do.
