Hi Im Paul, 60 years old trying to build 35 year old ambulance into a camper. Been Getting there for 10 years. Mostly cos I know nothing about mechanics until I started on this project. At least it runs now. Got to Scotland very expensively. Lost my job due to ill health, the project only thing keeping me a bit sane.

Welcome.
Ambulances seem to be quite popular as campers. I suspect the older ones like ex-army 101 land rovers (the small forward control lorry ones) are much easier to convert than the newer ones - effectively just being insulated box bodies. Most ambulances have things like parking heaters fitted, as well as a battery supply designed to run things whilst stationary.

True enough But I believe it's fair to say they have a hard life When they get a call they go And they don't exactly spare the throttle until the engine is adequately heated And they often don't get serviced on time due to the fact that they can't miss them And they get their fair share of fender benders We have a lot of ambulances in service (sprinters) And after 3 or 4 years they have had it That's why it is not an obvious choice in my opinion But it's 35 years old, old technology is built to last So please don't get discouraged by my comments

I'd not thought about that. I'm not sure I'd fancy the complexity of converting a modern ambulance with all it's electrical kit and I suspect lots of moulded plastics.
