My old Passat B5 tdi year 1999, had the sump replaced in Germany by the previous owners..The bill was about 1200 euro!

I did this job on my 2003 pd130 Passat on a gravel drive!
Took me best part of a day. I lifted the engine up with a hoist and got away with just lowering the subframe slightly.
I'm pretty certain I have so pics somewhere if you want me to dig them out?

Thanks for replies - much appreciated . This one is 130 bhp . What I was hoping for was someone who had actually done the job - and tom's post fits the bill nicely (don't need the pics thanks - just to know that it can be done ). I wanted to avoid the possibility of having raised the engine and lowered the subframe to then discover I still couldn't get the sump out ; and would then have to go on to remove the engine. Joepublics sites also helped - the first one has a good article on this with a lot of pics
