Hi all,
Had a E46 year 2001 318i(1.9) in for a misfire and running badly last week..
I replaced the coil pack(4) and plugs and one vacuum pipe.
Back in today, running unevenly at tickover, and sometimes needs throttle to start..
It drives well..
There's a breather cansister at the back of the engine that's whistling...You can remove and hold the oil cap approx 5mm away and it will suck it back on!
I've been right through the thing...
Suspected a crank breather under the inlet manifold but I can't find one!
Codes stored are for lambda(live data is good though) and cam sensor.
Any ideas before I burn it?

Well after a lot of head scratching and googling methinks it's the Crankcase vent valve...

If memory serves me at all, this is a common problem on this series of engines, and crankcase vent valve is the culprit.
