I will soon have to change the front wheel bearing on a friends Peugeot 307 ( 2001 , 1.4 petrol ). Are these straightforward or are there any particular problems I might run into with ABS ring etc . Thanks .

Can't think of anything odd on these, if its a magnetic pick up for the ABS the wheel bearing only goes in the hub one way.
If the 307 is the same as the Citroen C4 I just renewed a ball joint on then the bottom arm won't push down low enough to get the ball joint out. So undo the ball joint nut the break the taper, then unbolt hub from the shocker and lift the ball joint out of the arm.
Have you got access to a press?

Thanks for that - could save a bit of frustration knowing beforehand that arm won't go down far enough. Was having a look at it today and I think the shock goes down into the bearing carrier and is clamped there . I hope that won't be too stubborn - and that the shock will have enough 'travel' to come up out of the carrier . I have a press .

Looking at the hubs on ebay it will be a 2 bolt connection to the shocker like the C4 i did.
