Anyone read the April 15 issue?
They have a Volvo XC90 with a 2.9 petrol engine project car. This month they had to abandon an attempt to change the timing belt because they could not find any timing marks. They ended the piece with a request for anybody who knows how to do it to let them know.
So, do any of you guys know how it's done? (I don't).

I haven't got to that bit in the mag yet, I read it on the bog, I'm constipated at the minute but due a good bout of the shits so can get upto speed then lol.
Looking on AD the 2.9 looks just like the belt swap I did on our Focus ST
Edit to add, sure they could have tippexed it up?

I was reading the article this afternoon, and it seemed a bit churlish to not find the information out and carry on....having broken the coolant stub pipe, what else could go wrong? I'm sure that a Tippex-type route would have been possible, after all, they could assume that the original belt was so new, that it was the correct length between sprocket teeth anyway, and all they needed to do was to put a rough mark in place to align (approximately) the relevant cam-tooth. I got the impression they were having a go at AD for not warning about the "thermostat outlet" problem - that would be the least of my worries given the wiring information problems I'm having in that quarter at the moment!
