no symptoms apart from eml coming on.the engine runs mint and all looks well on live data.checked all the obvious but this fault comes straight back after clearing it.the car drives perfect with no loss of power??

Had exactly the same with my neighbours one a while back. Hers first of all threw a code for CTS and Maf...Cleared them, now just the Maf comes back. Methinks the IAT is built into the Maf on these. Hers runs well too, well as well as a 3 pot lump of cheese does ;D Let it progress?

Yeah looks like having to go that route.its annoying that the fault is there but there are no symptoms.

Yep, know what you mean..
I didn't replace this one, purely on cost..
She wasn't fussed about the eml, so I told her if it starts running rough, just yell..
Well I hear it everyday anyhow ;D And she's a MILF ;D ;D

Would a split brake servo hose introduce un-metered air ? Not sure how vacuum operates on this. I think hose is connected to right side of manifold.
The servo hose is notorious for splitting and disintegrating on all 3 cylinder Polos, due to the terrible vibration and engine movement I suspect.
EDIT: just remembered I think there is even a VOSA listed recall for early 3 cylinders but I know for a fact late models are also affected.
