Those string things are interesting. From what I gather they work very well and i've never actually heard a bad word about them. I understand they're illegal because you have to inspect the inside of the tyre prior to repairing them.
I got a set out of curiosity some time ago and they're somewhere in the back of one of the Landies. I think I'd be happy to use one as a last resort to trundle home on if my spare was buggered, but not as a long term thing.
