I am going thru a (3 monthly) bad patch with work at the moment.
In the yard at work we have... All towed in this week and belonging to customers!
1. 2001 Lexus LS430 with seized engine (no oil pressure) Seized solid!
2. 2005 BMW M530 Sport estate (space ship mileage and panel damage), water in spare wheel well, wrecked modules, water thru suspension pump, 2x burst spheres.
3. 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 2.5 V6 cambelt broke.
4. 2007 GM Vectra Estate, intake manifold flaps have fell apart, DPF blocked and EGR valve U/S, 360k on clock dying taxi
5. 2006 High mileage Kia Sedona, HP pump broke up and all injectors U/S with tank full of metal particles
6. 1999 Renault master which needs £1200 diesel pump and fitting
7. 2003 Saab 9-5 with dead PSG16 pump and CIM
8. 1998 Merc rusty sprinter on lativan plates with nasty rattle engine, due to owner fitting derv pump and not filling chain tensioner up.
9. 2008 Merc E280D estate car with 260K on clock and major wiring harness fire which has melted ECU
10. 2000 V70 estate (super clean) sump impact damage, owner ran till death
11. 1999 Pug 207 BSI failure with lights and wipers and horn with other MOT failures, bottom ball joints and tyres.
12. 2007 LDV maxus, battered dented builders van with crankshaft sensor circuit fault (wiring maybe ecu, as owner has tried a new sensor)
Out of the above, only the LDV maxus if it turns out to be a wiring fault will generate a final bill less than the re-sale value of the vehicle.
The above is what has arrived on recovery trucks on the last 48hrs.
I would have a job to sell the above for salvage, let alone repair them at a sensible price the customers can afford.
