Couldn't decide where to put this thread lol but her goes. Some of you may or may not have noticed I've not been on the Forum now for quite a few weeks. The reason being I have had major surgery(3-4 hours) on Wednesday the 15th February at a Hospital out of my home town some 35 miles away due to the nature of the op I needed. It was to remove a tumour (2"X2") that was diagnosed in September last year on my right kidney even though I didn't have any symptoms. I got a phone call direct from the Surgeon recently who tells me the tumour is benign. I'm still Convalescing as it's called and it'll be six week this coming Wednesday since my operation (6-8 weeks recovery time) I was told. I'm still not 100% back to normal (LEAVE IT LOL) and not driving as yet because I've still got a bit of discomfort from my six incisions to access my kidney when I was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.I'm trying to go for a walk every day weather permitting to increase my energy levels. Not had a cigarette since the day before my operation. Still get the odd craving but not as bad as I thought it would be.

Glad things went well and good results from the biopsy were good.
Fags, I guess it’s up to you, some people need them, some need a scare to kick the habit.
If you want to stay off them then don’t except one as a gift as that’s all that’s-needed for the cravings to kick in again. Jackie was 5/6 weeks for the cravings to stop and not been near one since.
Fags n petrol you must be saving a fortune 😂

I won't need any treatment or after care but I will get an appointment to go back for a CT scan on both my kidneys to check my kidney function. I've got six incisions four small ones and two larger ones about two inches each in size which are all healing well they are all at the front of my stomach and abdomen area for access for the operation. I can't drive until I can do an emergency stop safely with no pain or discomfort. May be a week or so we will see.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, WRT to smoking, I gave up once I ran out of my stash i'd built up from working in places with significantly less tax on tobacco - i was faced with paying £7.50 for a pack of 20 so rather than going into the pa.... Asian run shop, I went into the chemists next door, got some patches and a spray. That was 2012, not smoked since, even though the Mrs. still does, I've not been tempted to start again. No reason other than I begrudge paying so much tax.

Glad the lump was just a lump @noberator Not anything more sinister. But surgery near your kidneys must be painfull for recovery process (like being punched). How old are you? Speedy recovery mate...

I am 68 it was around the time just after my birthday last September I was diagnosed with this tumour. It's a very long story which I won't bore you with but I was told it's 90% it's a cancerous tumour from experience of the Specialists. I was not at all comfortable with what I was being told so I challenged their decision and got a different outcome to what I was initially being offered which was to remove my right kidney it's called a nephrectomy. What I had in the end was Robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. I've still got the six page booklet the surgeon gave me when I went to see him a couple of weeks before Xmas. It's very very high tec and complex look it up on Youtube if you are interested.

My Grandad gave-up smoking after a big heart-attack in his early 60's - cardiologist said "That's your first and last warning" He never looked back after that, stronger and fitter than he had been for the previous 40years. What finally killed him was.....a tumour on his kidney, crushed his spinal column and paralysed him from the chest down. It was all missed in those days (NHS in the 1990's) and he died 8days later. Went out like a Catherine-Wheel though.......
